I joined the US army security agency in 1959 and spent time in Ethiopia.
I met King Haille Selassie, the last known king of Solomon descent
(nicknamed Lion of Judah).
Discharged in 1962, I met Linda, got married in Pampa and went to work for
Southwestern Public Service Company.
I commuted to Canyon and received a BS degree from West Texas State
University.
In 1968 I went to work for SPS in the marketing department in
Amarillo, but then we moved back to Pampa and lived there from 1969 until
1981. In my role as a dad, I
have coached football, baseball and basketball and was my son's biggest
fan in sports. My daughter
was a ballet dancer who danced in the play "Texas".
We moved to Portales, New Mexico in 1981 where I was
the local manager, then to Carlsbad in 1986 as the district manager.
I enjoyed my work and social life very much until a merger caused
me to retire in 1997 with 34 years of service.
In 1998 we moved back to Amarillo.
I have enjoyed playing golf, participating in church activities, and
employment at the golf course (can't call it work) and am renewing old
friendships around the Texas Panhandle.
My spouse retired from home interiors in 2003 after 20 years of
employment.
