After a surprise visit from some great gals on Saturday, the last day of the 45th reunion, I decided it was time to attempt a bio. The decision was aided by various comments of those visitors, who, by the way, all looked fantastic. Thanks to all of you who took the time to search me out. Karen and I both really enjoyed the visit. After graduation, I moved to Lubbock where I went to work for the First
National Bank and enrolled in Texas Tech. I graduated in 1963 and
moved back to Pampa. I went back to work for Ed Myatt and his new
partner, Ralph Milliron. I spent six months in Fort Polk, Louisiana serving Uncle Sam and returned to Pampa where we started a new company involved in the gas compression equipment business. We sold the company and became involved in some real estate ventures and banking interests. I was one of the founders and original Chairman of the Board of National Bank of Commerce in Pampa. We bought the old Highland General Hospital property and demolished a big part of the building. The bank was sold although we retained the offices which we still own along with three partners. I still have an office on the property and manage the rentals, etc. for something to do in my semi-retirement. I married Karen Wells, PHS class of 1961, and we have three sons and
four grandchildren - all boys. Our
oldest lives in Garland, Texas, with his family. Our middle son
lives in Pampa with his wife and two sons, and our youngest lives in
Pflugerville, Texas, with his wife and two sons. We wish we could see all of them more often and may some day move to a more central location to be nearer to everyone. Jim Gardner |
