During my sophomore year at PHS, my family moved to Fayetteville, Ar; therefore, I too went to Arkansas. I missed Pampa and my friends more than I can express. I later married Jerry Lamar, and we traveled a lot due to his job. We had one daughter, DeeAnna. One of the biggest disasters in my life was the loss of my husband, best friend and father of my child in an automobile accident in 1960, while we were living in New Mexico. After that terrible loss, I moved to Oregon, finished my education, and became involved in so many youth activities. I was very busy with church, Campfire girls and raising my daughter. I married again to John Bishop, and we had one daughter, Beverly. We were divorced after 25 years of marriage. I got started in the insurance business in 1968, and then I started my own insurance business in 1977. During those years, I have been involved in all levels of rodeo, from pee-wee through professional barrel racing. I had a rodeo team for four years and was, also, advisor to the rodeo courts for two different rodeos. I put my horse out to pasture last year. He is now 33 years old.....(but thinks he is four) I have shown my golden retrievers throughout the Northwest for 30 years and have been a professional dog trainer for the same number of years. So I guess it could be said that I don't sit around a lot. Plans as of our 45th reunion. I stay very busy with all of my various interests and my work. I will be retiring from my "day job", i.e., the insurance business in November, and this will give me plenty of time to travel more and do more with my two grandchildren: Ali, who is now 20 years old, and Ashley who is now 7 years old. Bio Update as of Oct., 2006. I did retire November of 2005 and sold my insurance agency. But after nine months of retirement, I decided that I needed more mental stimulation than I was getting with my dog training and travels, so I have gone back to work part-time with a large insurance agency and enjoy that. By working part-time, I continue to do my outside activities and still have time to enjoy being grandmother. I'm planning to attend the 50th and would love to see everyone. Love to all of you. |
