After graduation, I enlisted in the National Guard, serving 6 years.
After active duty in the National Guard, I came back to Pampa and worked
with my Dad at National Tank Company for 14 years. I was then in
business with my brother, Lloyd, in welding and fabricating for several
years.
I married in 1963, then divorced in 1969. We had no children of our
own. After my divorce, I went to work for Cabot and Ingersoll-Rand in
Field Service and Sales, Domestic and International, making many trips,
world wide, with the Cabot Mobile Rig.
After 19 years of being single, I became reacquainted with Gloria
Bearden Poore in 1987. Gloria and I married on February 18, 1989. Our
20th wedding anniversary will be this February.
She had two children when we got married: a son, Darren Poore, a student at Texas Tech University, and a daughter, Brandi Poore, a student at Pampa High School. Our kids both went on to graduate from Texas Tech University. Our son, Darren Poore is a Professional Photographer in Austin, Texas along with his wife, Kelly, who is a Micro-Soft Engineer Consultant. They have a daughter, Riley, age 9 1/2. and a son, Logan, age 5 1/2. Our daughter, Brandi Silva, was in Association Management for several years. She is a homemaker at this time. She and her husband, Tony, a Commerical Insurance Broker, live in Wimberley, Texas, and they have a daughter, Loren, age 4 1/2, and a son, Luke, age 2 1/2. That makes us four grandkids now, and it's great.
My wife and I owned our own business for several years, Custom Welding
and Fabricating, and we have several buildings here in the Pampa area,
that we have put up for sale.
Then, in 1993, my wife and I both went to work for The Texas Department
Of Criminal Justice, Jordan Unit, east of Pampa. I worked in the Boot
Factory and Retired as Assistant Plant Manager in 2003. My wife worked
in Inmate Records for 15 years and retired this year 2008.
I have been busy these last 5 years, with several work projects for our home. Plus, I am right up there with the rest of you guys with a full knee replacement, back surgery, and a heart stint. But I have also gotten in some good hunting, fishing, camping, and enjoying our kids and grandkids. I also enjoy making the coffee shop rounds everyday. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the 50th 1958 Class Reunion of Pampa High School.
