After graduation I married Sue Cockrell.  We celebrated our 45^th anniversary this year.  We have 2 children, Rod & Suzette.  We have been blessed with 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 

I worked for IGA Grocery for 6 months, Gaylan Electric for 6 months, then went to work for my father-in-law as a carpenter.  I was then his partner for 6 years in the building business. 

In 1969 Sue & I built a small building and started a furniture and carpet business.  Thanks to the fact that Sue had a natural knack for decorating and telling me what to do, our business flourished.  In 1989 when the “oil boom” went to “bust” we moved our furniture business to Amarillo.  We opened our new store in December 2002 on South Soncy.  Our flooring store is on Hobart Street in Pampa. 

My hobby is fishing, though I don’t go as often anymore.  Sue and I have vacationed in South America, the Carribean, the Mediterranean, England and the European mainland, but our favorite now is Las Vegas.  (I figure it’s cheaper than a psychiatrist).
