After graduating from PHS, I attended Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger. After two years there, I transferred to Texas Tech and graduated in 1963 in Chemical Engineering.  My first job after college was with Cabot Corporation beginning in Pampa.  Three months later I was transferred to the Ville Platte, La. plant in the heart of French Louisiana. (Talk about a culture shock.)  In 1969, I was transferred to West Virginia.  In 1970, we came back to Louisiana ,and I was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and Chemicals in Baton Rouge.  In 1978, I went to work for Rubicon Inc. down river from Baton Rouge, and I retired from there in June, 2002.

I married Lillie Coats from Springfield, La. in 1964. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1971 following the birth of our second son. She managed to deal with the disease with some normalcy for more than 29 years until she passed away early in 2001. I have since met and married a wonderful lady, Donna Jurey Hebert, and am starting out for a second time around. (God is good.)  We celebrated our first anniversary in June with a cruise/land trip to Alaska.

Lillie and I have two sons, Charles (Chuck) and Michael (Mike). Chuck graduated from Louisiana State in Turf Management and works in Winter Park, Florida, as a horticulturist for the city. He is married to the former Stacy Miller, a high school sweetheart. They have two children, a boy (Hayden, 5) and a girl (Hannah, 2). I hope we will be able to get to see them more since I am now retired, and we can travel a lot more.  Mike got his BA from Louisiana College and a Masters degree from Southern Mississippi University.  He teaches journalism at Louisiana College and is currently working on his doctorate.  He is married to the former Michele Holt of Searcy, Arkansas, and they have one son, Griffin, 5, and they are expecting a child in November.

In marrying Donna, I inherited two lovely stepdaughters. Ginger, an elementary school teacher turned stay-at-home mom, is married to Tommy Grantham who works with his brother in a marine supply service based in Baton Rouge on the Mississippi River.  They have one daughter, Shelby, who is the center of her grandma's attention. Donna's second daughter, Amber, attends Louisiana State University majoring in Mass Communication.

Donna and I met at church and stay very active in our church activities.  We both sing in choir.  I am a deacon and teach a mixed Sunday school class.  She is a born decorator, and she helps take care of the floral arrangements for the church sanctuary. God has indeed blessed us with a new life.  Both of us have lost our first mate to relatively early deaths due to disease, and we feel that we must make the best of life for as long as God allows us time here on earth. We plan to do a lot of traveling if the Lord allows, starting with a trip to see the Rose Parade and other sites in California in December.  We travel a great deal with Donna's twin sister and her husband.

I regret our schedule will not allow us to attend the reunion in a couple of weeks, but perhaps at a later date we will be able to see many of the old class.
