Mrs. Harmon was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Pampa, to Edwin and Juanita Southard. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her second mother, Molly Bernice Southard.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette Boyd; two sons, Darwin Harmon and Jerry Damond Harmon; a brother, Rand Southard; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be the Humane Society in Mrs. Harmon's name or to Lake Shore Baptist Youth Group.  _______________________________________________________

Since Jeanette had attended our 50th reunion less than two months earlier and had not indicated to anyone that she was aware of a serious problem in her life, her death came as quite a shock to all of us.  Both Jeanette and Darrell Cockrell had ridden together to the reunion, and Darrell even attended her funeral.  So we obtained this information from him:

She had no severe problems when we were at the reunion. She just had the normal aches and pains that come with age.  She had a massive heart attack on the 5th (November) and the doctor put in two stents and told her that she could not go home alone. We put her in an assisted living place that was to be for a few days until her son and daughter-in-law could make arrangements to take her back to Arizona to live. She was only in that facility for one day, and she had another heart attack that was caused by a blood clot at her heart.  I went back to see her and she died later that night. They couldn’t fix the clot.

Jeanette had provided her bio for the website when we began it in August of 2003 in preparation for our 45th reunion.  I've included it here as well as the picture which was in her bio.

In the years following our time at Pampa High, the good Lord blessed me in a multitude of ways. My life is centered around church, family, friends and community activities. In the earlier years my time was filled raising three children ... two sons and a daughter. My branch of the family tree has grown and includes three granddaughters and two darling great-granddaughters. Of course the patriarch of our family, my dad, Edwin R. Southard, who will be celebrating his 89th birthday this October, has been the mainstay in my life from it's very beginning, and he now has become my best friend. He and I travel around the country when we can ... he especially burns a trail on the roads between Pampa, the Metroplex and the Hill Country of Texas.
My hobbies also include art, using oils, chalks, charcoal and watercolors. I paint / draw landscapes, still-lives and portraits. I also have two precious little dogs that provide loving companionship but require much energy and reminds me of my child raising years ... I've started all over. God is good
